1. Do I need to be present in Cyprus to complete the property purchase transaction?

No. The person purchasing the property may attend in person, however, if this should be inconvenient at the time the purchaser can appoint a ‘Power of Attorney’ and or Lawyer to act on their behalf.

2. Can I get residency in Cyprus what are the requirements?

Residential Permit is easy obtained for persons living in Cyprus who have purchased property.

Temporary permit:
The granting of this permit requires the existence of a bank account in Cyprus and a sales agreement of the property purchased. Temporary residence status can be from one up to four years.

Permanent Permit:
In addition to the above requirements the applicant must establish evidence of a secured annual income of not less than 5,000cyp per person.

3. What happens if either a co-owner of the property should die?

Jointly owned property does not automatically pass to the survivor. It is strongly advisable to discuss with your lawyer at the time of purchase.

4. Are there any other things I should do at the same time as I buy a property?

You should protect your investment by adequately insuring your property and contents.

5. Is the property Freehold or Leasehold?

The property in Cyprus is commonly Freehold as the system of Leasehold is almost unknown in Cyprus.

Yes, there are numerous private clinics and hospitals. They are available at various rates depending on age, state of health and the level of insurance taken out. Health and Medical insurance per annum starting from 300cyp. (Approx) Doctors visit approx 10cyp – 20cyp.

8. What side of the road can I drive on and what driving documents do I need?

You drive on the left the same side as the UK and Eire and can drive with an EU or international driving licence.

9. What is the national language. Is English widely spoken in Cyprus?

Greek is the national language in Cyprus however English is the second language.

10. What telecommunications services are there?
